People have been asking us lately, what’s with the hashtag? #TUESDAYSHORTS as you might have seen on our Instagram and Facebook feeds is our way to let you know how much we love the short story. It’s also how we’re tagging the releases of our short stories. And now we bet you’re asking…
You release short stories?
Yes. We do. We started this on Tuesday, October 6th with the release of Cory Martin’s Crazy Love and we’re not stopping there. On the first and third Tuesdays of every month we’ll be releasing a new short story by a great writer. These writers come from a variety of backgrounds – they have created successful TV shows, had their work appear in highly regarded literary journals, have published novels, how-to books and graphic novels.
The stories we choose to release encompass a variety of subjects and styles, but they all have one thing in common – they’re a great read. We hope you’ll continue to support our efforts to bring the short story back in an accessible way by checking in on our site on the first and third Tuesdays of every month to see what story we have to offer you.
By the way, tomorrow is the third Tuesday of the month, so be sure to check in on us then. The story will be available for direct purchase on our Facebook page at the $.99 discount price and we’ll also share a coupon code to our Instagram fans to purchase the story on our website. Once a new story has been released it will be forever available on our website, so if you find a story you love, be sure to share it with your friends.
And don’t forget, by purchasing one of our stories you are helping us support our mission to give back. Ten percent of the profits of each story is donated to a charity chosen by the author. Bet you didn’t know reading could be so good for the world.
Why did we choose to launch our company by publishing short stories first?
Because the short story is a part of history we’re hoping repeats itself. There used to be a time where short fiction was king. Where great writers like Fitzgerald and Hemingway made livings off of short stories. Where their tales led to novels that led to movies that led to lives of grandeur. Where everyone had access to them. Today, that is not the case. Most short stories live in highly regarded literary journals and magazines that only those in the literary know seem to read. Don't get us wrong, we love these journals and read them quite frequently ourselves, but we believe that with the power of the internet and social media we can reach a far broader audience. While we have some great literary stories, we don’t think all short stories need to be fit for The New Yorker. We believe that everyone deserves a chance to tell their tale. That’s why the stories we choose to publish come from writers with varied writing experience and backgrounds and their subjects are varied. This is why we hope you’ll support us in our endeavor by purchasing the stories we put out there.
Starting on Tuesday, October 6th we will be releasing a new short story every other week. These stories will first be offered at an exclusive discount to our Facebook and Instagram followers and will then find a permanent home here in our online store. Our hope is to curate a plethora of stories, so that there is something for everyone. If you like what we’re doing, please feel free to share this with your friends, colleagues and neighbors. We love it when you spread the word.
